BASKETBALL GAMES SET FOR AUGUST 1, 1998

CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE The 12th Annual Coca-Cola Tennessee-Georgia
High School All-Star Basketball Games are set for Saturday, August 1, at
the UTC Arena. All previous games have been played at the Arena and both
the Tennessee boys and girls have a 7-4 edge over their Georgia counterparts.
This year the girls will tip-off at 6:00 p.m. followed by the boys at 8:00
p.m.
Vincent Yarbrough of Cleveland High School will lead the Tennessee stars
against the Georgia boys in 1998. Yarbrough was named as a first-team Parade
All-American and the Tennessee Class AAA Player-of-the-Year. Yarbrough
averaged 22 points, 12 rebounds, and 9 blocked shots per game in 1998.
Also featured on Team Tennessee is Harris Walker of Brainerd High School
who was the Tennessee Class AA Player-of-the-Year. On the Georgia side
for the boys, Joey Westmoreland of Dalton High School will be the first
player from extreme north Georgia to play in the game in its 12 years of
existence.
The girls from Georgia will be led into competition against the Tennessee
girls by the Georgia State Player-of-the-Year Sherika Wright from Josey
High School. The Tennessee girls will feature Talisha Scates of Hickman
County High School, the Tennessee Class AA Player-of-the-Year.
Tickets for the event go on sale Monday, July 27, 1998, at 9:30 a.m.
at the UTC Arena or by calling 423-266-6627. Pregame tickets are just $5
for adults and $3 for students with an Edge Card. Tickets the day of the
game will be $6 for adults and $4 for students with an Edge Card. Without
an Edge Card, tickets are $8 and $6.
Rosters for both Tennessee and Georgia teams have been included with
this release.
